Patricia Early

March 1, 1930 — October 18, 2018

Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia A. Early, 88, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:30 am Monday, October 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division, Davenport.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Sunday from 2:00 until 4:30 pm at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport.  There will be a prayer service at 4:15 pm Sunday to conclude the visitation.  There will be additional visitation Monday in the Gathering Space at the church from 9:30 until the mass time.

Mrs. Early died peacefully Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.  She was surrounded by her two children at the time of her passing.

Patricia Ann Benhart was born March 1, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Charlotte (Lane) Benhart.

She was united in marriage to John J. “Jack” Early on April 23, 1952 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  Jack preceded her in death December 24, 1989.

Pat was a lifelong resident of Davenport. She graduated from Davenport High School, and attended Marycrest College Nursing Program.  She worked as the school nurse at Assumption High School, was Director of Nurses at Ridgecrest Village and Royal Neighbors, and at the Davenport Clinic as a nurse for Dr. Sunderbruch.  She had also taught L.P.N’s at SCC. Pat retired in 1991.

She was a former member of St. Anthony’s Church, Charter Member of OLV, Mercy Alumni Association, Mercy Obstetrical Group, and Senior Legislature. She was also a volunteer at CASI.

Pat cherished her family and dear friends.  She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially dogs.  She rescued hundreds over the years and helped place them in loving homes.

Memorials may be made to Assumption High School Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or the Scott County Humane Society.

Those left to honor her memory include her children and their spouses; Kathy (Kent) Berryman, Bloomfield, IA, Mike (Gay) Early, Yorkville, IL; four grandchildren, John (Sara) Berryman, Danny (Marissa) Berryman, David (Marissa) Early, and Kimberly (Hudson) Seegers; and five great grandchildren, Hunter and Myles Berryman, Beau and Josephine Early, and Lincoln Seegers.
