Nicholas Schwien

Nicholas L. Schwien, 35, of Blue Grass, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 12:00 PM, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Nicholas was born on April 24, 1989 in Iowa City. He was the son of Jeffrey and Denise (Galloway) Schwien. 

Nick was a skilled craftsman who put much pride and dedication into his many projects. He was thorough, creative, innovative and organized in everything that he did. He had a passion for soul touching music, watching movies and documentaries to stimulate his mind and spending time exploring new places with his dog Bo. He had an incredible sense of humor and always found a way to brighten up the atmosphere no matter what he was going through himself. He was a loyal son, grandson, brother and friend. There was nothing Nick wouldn't do for the people he loved. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. 

Those left to honor his memory include his mother Denise Schwien; siblings Zach Schwien and Sarah (Sam Reynolds) Schwien; grandparents Linda Galloway, Jerry and Kris Schwien and Joanne Schwien; his best four legged friend Bo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

 He was preceded in death by his father Jeffrey and his grandfather Roger Galloway.
