Nancy J. Mullin, 80, of Davenport, died Friday, August 11, 2023 at her home.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 5520 Eastern Avenue, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue or Humane Society of Yuma.
Nancy Josephine Eckman was born on March 2, 1943 in Elmira, New York, a daughter of John Wesley and Josephine Lucille (Rink) Eckman. She graduated from high school in Patterson, New Jersey in 1961 and then earned her Bachelors in social work from Marycrest College and Masters from the University of Iowa.
In 1980 Nancy married James L. “Jim” Mullin.
Nancy worked for Bethany Homes and ARC of Rock Island County as a social worker for many years. IN 1983, Jim and Nancy opened, owned, and operated Blackhawk Films, Great Escapes in Rock Island. They sold the store in 1986 but assisted other start-up video stores in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Nancy and Jim were proud owners of their 1950 Ford convertible known as “Runaround Blu.” They showed the car for 25 years both locally and nationally. She loved to sing barbershop and did so for many years with Harmony Inc in the Chorus and a quartet and competed on a national and international level.
Nancy is survived by her step-children: Todd Mullin, Oceanside, California, and Andrea Cornett, Yuma, Arizona; granddaughters, Megan and Ellen Guisti; sisters: Jane Bennett, Elmira, New York.
In addition to her husband Jim, she was preceded in death by her parents, foster parents, Kenneth and Leona McClure, and siblings, Robert McClure and Betty Cooper.
