Myrna L. Brehmer, 90, of Davenport, died Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Genesis East, Davenport. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. in the gathering space at Our Lady of Victory with the Rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m. There will be additional visitation on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be made to the church or the Legion of Mary. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Myrna Mary Lee Micklewright was born on August 29, 1932 in Davenport, a daughter of Joseph R. and Elma (Endorf) Micklewright. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1950. Myrna was united in marriage to Julian W. Brehmer on May 9, 1953 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1987.
Myrna spent over 35 years as the secretary of John F. Kennedy Catholic School.
She a woman of great faith, attending daily Mass at Our Lady of Victory where she was a member of the Legion of Mary among other groups. Myrna adored her family and cherished the times they were together. She also enjoyed playing bingo, usually multiple times a week!
Survivors include her sons: Bill (Cheryl) Brehmer, Eldridge, Bob (Lorrie) Brehmer, Lebanon, Indiana, Tom Brehmer, and Ken Brehmer, both of Davenport; grandchildren: Jenna, Brad, Tyler, Austin, Trenton, Savannah, Derek, Craig, Tara, and Nathan and several great-grandchildren; siblings: Dan Micklewright, Roberta “Bert” Geheran, Celine Quigley, and Dottie (Skip) Wiese, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Phil Bearbower, Cay Micklewright, and Bea Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Julian, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Monica Brehmer, her parents, siblings: Loren, Joe Jr., Jerrold, Carol Ann Micklewright and Bonnie Bearbower, and a sister-in-law, Carole Micklewright. May they rest in peace.
