Mike Boyd, 82, of Bettendorf, died peacefully with his family by his side on January 15, 2024, and he will be dearly missed by many. 

Paul Michael Boyd (Mike) hailed from Iowa City and was the son of Paul and Mary Boyd.  He was in the first graduating class of Regina High School in 1959.  Mike received an undergrad and master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa. Mike also received an MBA from Florida Tech.   

Mike worked for several years at the Corp of Engineers and was honored as the Senior Engineer of the year during his tenure.  He completed his engineering career at John Deere.  He worked at Deere for over twenty years and established many lifelong friends.  

Mike was very active with volunteer work.  He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Quad City Rotary (Recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow), Parish Council member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and School Board member at Assumption High School.   

Mike was a devout family man and he loved nothing more than to show ponies with his siblings around the Midwest in his younger years or at his annual family reunion at the Boyd Open.  He loved to utilize his talented woodworking skills to make a homemade dollhouse or workshop for one of his seven adoring grandchildren.  He was most proud of his partnership with his loving wife Sally whom he was married to for over 59 incredible years.  

Mike was a loving Husband. A spectacular Dad and Grandpa. A loyal Brother and a Friend to many.  Mike is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sally, Bettendorf; children and grandchildren: Patrick (Michelle) Boyd, Bettendorf and their children: Paul Boyd and Sara (Cody) Dostal; Mike (Holly) Boyd, LaGrange, IL and their children: Ryan (fiancée, Ashley Feld) Boyd, and Maggie Boyd and Betsy (Jamie) Solem, Elmhurst, IL and their children: Abby, Matthew, and Sean Solem; siblings: Jerry (Linda) Boyd, Eldridge, Margaret (Dick) McNamara, Bettendorf, Dr. Thomas (Carole) Boyd, Burlington, William (Sheila) Boyd, Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Boyd, Iowa City and Waltraud Boyd, Germany; and brothers-in-law, Richard “Dick” Jensen and William Sheridan, Iowa City and many nieces and nephews. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jim and Mary Ellen Jensen, Debbie Jensen, Patrick Boyd, and Charles Boyd. May they rest in peace.     

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Mike will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The Mass will be livestreamed by clicking the following link: St. John Vianney Livestream Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa Quad Cities Rotary -Davenport Challenger Little League or Habitat for Humanity.
