Michael Moritz

October 3, 1946 — June 23, 2024

Michael Moritz, 77, formerly of Bettendorf, passed away, Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Jackson Ridge Healthcare Center, Maquoketa.

 Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 28, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, River Bend Food Bank or Kings Harvest No Kill Shelter.

 Michael was born on October 3, 1946 in Davenport, son of Kenneth and Eloise (Smithiger) Moritz. He was united in marriage to Patricia Hottenstein on June 20, 1969.

 Michael worked for Doyle & Keenan, C.W. Crossen Company and later for Mid-American Glass. He found joy in watching sports, especially the Chicago White Sox. He was a member of the West High School Iowa State Championship Baseball team in 1963. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1968. In his younger years he coached baseball and bowled in bowling leagues. He loved to read and spend family vacations in Wisconsin. Mike volunteered as a treasurer for Our House Preschool, First Christian Church, and People Uniting Neighbors and Churches (PUNCH). He was also a Deacon at First Christian Church.

 Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pat; children Jason (Melanie Hilliard) Moritz and Shannon Moritz; uncle Richard and aunt Lynn Moritz and family; sister-in-law Carol and brother-in-law Mike Cather and family; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
