Michael L. Hollars, 65, of Bettendorf, died Friday, March 5, 2021 at his residence. Graveside services for Mike will be at 12:00PM, Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 1130AM at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.
Mike was born on December 6, 1955 in Rock Island, Illinois, a son of Alfred and Mildred (Spidel) Hollars. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi!
Mike worked as a mechanic and most recently had done home remodel projects in the Indianola area. If you saw Mike out and about, it was probably in his signature black cowboy hat and boots. He enjoyed NASCAR and the #3 car driven by Dale Earnhardt and Austin Dillon. He also was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Mike also enjoyed collecting Zippo lighters, playing IPAD games, and watching wrestling anything paranormal.
Mike is survived by his children: Laurie (Rick) Robinson, Bettendorf, Alicia (Robert) Starner, Sedalia, Missouri, Michael Hollars II, Davenport, Rae Palmersheim, Indianola, and James Weaver, Truro, IA; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a special friend, Deb Corbin, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a brother, Alfred “Wayne” Hollars, Davenport, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian in 2002, his parents and siblings: Rex, Donald, Paul, and Renee.
