Michael Cochrane

Michael “Mike” Cochrane, age 61, of Davenport, Iowa, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Bettendorf,Iowa. He was born January 10, 1957 to James and Bess (Skogen) Cochrane in Beloit. Mike graduated from Turner High School, class of 1975. He enjoyed his days at Turner especially being a member of the basketball team.  He maintained a lifetime friendship with the head coach Guy Richie.  Mike was chosen for a Co-op program through the Beloit Corp. and worked while attending Dunwoody Industrial Institute, graduating in 1979. Early on in life, through the help and support of Peg Nelson, Mike met his first love: the guitar. He went on to spend his entire life dedicated to playing and writing music. During the last years Mike performed regularly around the Davenport area.  He enjoyed teaching other the guitar especially young kids.  His second love was animals of all type and never missed a chance to interact with them this included fishing and many days spent along the Mississippi River.  He was also an avid Packers, Badgers and Cubs fan.

Mike will be greatly missed and remembered for his generous spirit and the compassion he had for others in need.

Mike is survived by his mother, Bess Davies of Beloit, his brother Mark (Janna) Cochrane of Appleton; his nephew, Nicholas Cochrane and his niece Emma Cochrane.

He was preceded in death by his father James Cochrane and his infant sister, Susan.

The family would like to thank the Unity House of Davenport for the support and encouragement they gave Mike over the years as well as the countless number of musical friends in the Quad Cities who were Mike’s extended family.

Mike’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the BRIAN G. MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit with David Meding officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday 9:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. The cortege will process to East Lawn Cemetery for interment.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
