Mason Ritter, Sr

Mason Lee Ritter, Sr., 79, a resident of Davenport, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in the comfort of his residence in Davenport. The family will greet friends Thursday (today) January 25, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, 407 N. Mainsfield Rd., Ava, Missouri. Burial will be in the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mason was born November 7, 1938 in Ava, Missouri, a son of, Lester and Lois Mae (Cline) Ritter. He graduated from Leeton High School.

He was married to Norma Jean Detherage in 1960 in Leeton. She preceded him in death July 28, 1976. He then was united in marriage to Sula Harlinger Gamble. They have been blessed with over forty years of marriage.

He retired from Alcoa in 2000 after 39 years of service. He had been in the Loading Dock and IPS Departments.

Mason cherished time spent with his family; he also enjoyed fishing, farming and doing puzzles.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sula; children and spouses, Paula (Sam) Woodruff, Kentucky, Lee (Juana) Ritter, Davenport, Mike (Patti) Knepper, Kentucky, Tim (Julie) Ritter, David Ritter, all of Missouri, Todd Knepper, Kentucky, Jeff (Samantha) Knepper, Davenport, Patrick (Heidi) Ritter, Bettendorf and Neal Ritter, Davenport; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Mary) Ritter and Wanda Bradley, all of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Kennedy and Doris Vaughn. May they rest in peace.
