Mary Jane Louise Ungs, 89, of Davenport, Iowa passed away, January 24, 2023.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00am to 11:00am Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association in loving memory of Duane Ungs. P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Jane was born on August 14, 1933, in Dubuque Iowa, daughter of James (Bud) Saul and Hilda (Schneider) Saul. Mary Jane graduated from St. Columkille High School; then attended and graduated from St. Ambrose College Division of Nursing in 1954. Mary Jane married Duane Charles Ungs on September 4, 1954, at St. Columbkille Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Her nursing career included University of Iowa Medical Association of Dubuque. Mary Jane retired from ORA Orthopedics Davenport after 37 years.
Mary Jane is survived by four loving children, Michael (Marcia) Ungs, Loveland, Colorado, Steven (Irene) Ungs, Hong Kong, Paula (Miller Schuck) Ungs, Erie, Colorado, and Amy (Doug) Pennino, Crystal Lake, Illinois; six grandchildren, Meagan (John) Murgel, Mallory (Steve) Creeron, Chase (Emily), Connor (Brittany), Corbin (Megan), and Cameron Pennino; five great-grandchildren, Lily and Leo Murgel, Claire and Cora Pennino, and Jaxson Pennino; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joan Rolling; brother, Bill Saul; and her husband, Duane Ungs in 2017.
