Mary A. Panther, 101, a resident of Davenport, died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6th at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mary was born October 23, 1917 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Martina (Swift) Bailey. On April 26, 1943, she married Everett Panther. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1984.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society at Holy Family, and Catholic Women League. She was a volunteer for hospice. Mary was very family oriented, attending numerous sporting and other events for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Mike Panther of Bettendorf, John Panther of Eldridge, Kieran (Loretta) Panther of St. Louis, Missouri, Tim (Debbie) Panther of Crossville, Tennessee, and Sally (Allan) McCord of Seattle, Washington; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Mary) Bailey of Davenport.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert and Phillip; grandson, Jimmy Panther; three sisters; and two brothers.
