Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Lutz, 92, of Davenport, will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The funeral livestream may be viewed and online remembrances expressed at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. 

 

Mrs. Lutz passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at Harmony-Utica Ridge, Davenport.

 

Mary Lou Denato was born August 14, 1932, in Albia, IA, a daughter of Joseph and Zella May (Fox) Denato, Sr. She was united in marriage to Robert Dale Lutz on May 3, 1952, in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1975.

 

Prior to her retirement, she had worked in food service for Lincoln Fundamental School in the Davenport school system and the former Bishops Buffet. 

 

She liked listening to country music and was a great cook. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she loved spoiling her beloved grandchildren. Mary was strong, self-reliant, honest, and hardworking, and instilled these values in her children.

 

Those left to honor her memory include her children Linda Taylor of Palm Harbor, FL, Kenneth Lutz of Davenport, Robert “Bob” Lutz, Kathy Riojas, Pam (Randy) Kuehl, Judi (Craig) Bevard, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren Daniel (Leah), Tyler (Nicole), Korey, Kyle (Summer), Brandon, Torrey (fiancée Mary) Christopher (Kelly), Melissa, Katelyn, Brandy (Matt), Christina (TJ), Racqual, Danielle; many great grandchildren including Selena Lopez with whom she had a special relationship; great great granddaughter Camila; and brother Jimmy Denato of Des Moines.

 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Tina Marie, grandson Tony Lopez, sisters Bertha Hammer, Lena Barnett, Norma Jean Denato, Betty Angerer, and brothers Tommy, Donald, Robert, Joe Jr, Quinto, Johnny, Pete, Willie, Ronald, and Eddie.
