Mary Ann died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Genesis East Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed away following a five-year courageous battle with cancer.
Mary Ann Mortier was born October 5, 1940 in Moline, the daughter of George August and Rachel Leona (née DeBock). She graduated from Alleman High School in 1958. Mary Ann was blessed to have many friends from school whom she continued to spend time with over these many years.
She was united in marriage to Alan Franklin Logan on December 26, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline. They were blessed with over 53 years of marriage.
After her children were all in school, she worked for the Growing Tree Pre-school for 15 years. She then retired and began caring for her grandchildren and family friends in her home.
Mary Ann was a faithful Catholic and was devoted to daily Mass, the Rosary, and Divine Mercy. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and lived a life of service to her family and friends. She was happiest when her entire family was gathered together. She especially cherished her grandchildren and was known by all as “Mema.” She was an accomplished baker and always had a treat for her children, grandchildren, and Alan. She also enjoyed following the Cubs, in good times and in bad!
The family would like to thank and acknowledge Dr. Mario Sy and his staff for their care, comfort, and kindness extended to Mary Ann and her family.
Memorials are suggested to Women’s Choice Center, Holy Family Church, and Crisis Aid International.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Alan, and children and their spouses, Steve (Kristi), Bettendorf; Thomas (Cheri), East Moline; Theresa (Tim) Solbrig, Bettendorf; John and Tim, both of Nashville, Tennessee; Dan (Andrea), Ankeny, Iowa; and Andrew (Rachel), Windsor, Colorado; 20 beloved grandchildren, and brothers, Jim (Carol) Mortier, John (Barb) Mortier, Larry (Sandy) Mortier, Dan (Sue) Mortier, and Jerry (Leigh) Mortier. May they rest in peace.
