Mary L. Burris

Mary L. Burris, 80, of Davenport, passed away on her birthday, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Per her wishes, she will enter eternal rest through cremation. Mary was born on March 8, 1945, in Baraboo, Wisconsin to Raymond and Nancy Ellen (Hutsell) Gruman. Mary married Raymond J. Horton, and they later divorced. She married Chaney L. Burris Jr. on April 11, 1980, in Davenport.

Mary loved art. She was proud to be a descendant of the “Daughters of the American Revolution”. Ultimately, her true enjoyment was spending time with family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Robert (Lisa) Horton, Dana (Mark) Mattly, Raymond (Louise) Horton, Denise Duran, Jennifer (David) Serrurier; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger Gruman, Jane Miklas, and Susan Laulainen.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Chaney; her parents; son, Michael Horton; and siblings, Beverly Clark, Thomas Gruman, and John Gruman.
