We are heartbroken to lose someone so special. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma who will be deeply missed.
Mary Valette Fritz and Joseph "Joe" J. Bailey were united in marriage, June 10, 1950. They had nine children.
Mary and Joe loved to travel, usually to visit family throughout the U.S. Occasionally they traveled to Europe.
Mary was an avid garage sale and second-hand store junkie. There was a period in her life when everything she bought was spray painted gold after she got the item home. She saw a vision with everything she purchased.
Anyone who knew Mary, knew she loved to sew and do crafts. She would spend hours crafting items for the tables at the Lutheran Home or sewing doll clothes, snowmen, and Santas for a craft show.
She loved getting together with her family and friends for weekly dinners, cards, bingo, dominoes, or monthly lunches.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patricia Bailey; Kevin; Kathleen Bailey (Bill Stengel); Matthew (Kristy); Pete; Nancy Williams (Dennis); and Jackie McManus; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Stephen; daughter, Colleen Greska; granddaughter, Amy Ferguson; parents, Leroy and Margaret Lenninger; sisters, Joyce Carstensen, Rosalie Geiger, Pat Blankenship; brother, Gary Lenninger.
The family would like to thank the Davenport Lutheran Home and Clarissa Cook for the care and kindness shown to her during this past month and in her final days.
