Funeral services celebrating the life of Marshall L. Jackson, 74, of Davenport, will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at People's Missionary Baptist Church, 553 - 23rd St, Rock Island. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 10-11am Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Jackson passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Genesis East, Davenport. Arrangements are entrusted to Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Marshall Lee Jackson was born March 25, 1949, in Louisville, MS, a son of Horace and Florence (Gay) Jackson Sr. He was united in marriage to Josephine Drummond on December 22, 1973, in Rock Island.
Prior to his retirement, Marshall had been a machinist with BNSF Railroad for 33 years.
Marshall loved his family fiercely, and was always there to give advice, be a mentor, or lend a helping hand. He enjoyed playing cards, the occasional trip to the casino, watching sports and Westerns, gardening, and cooking.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Josephine; sons Chesney (Keri Wright) Drummond of Bettendorf, Marcus (Gwennatra) Jackson of Urbana, IL; grandchildren Chesney Drummond II, Michael Schneidermann, Kashmere Drummond, Alexus Jackson, Alana Jackson, Alarea Jackson, Marcus Jackson II, Emylee Drummond, Elayah Edwards, Corienne Koopman; great grandchildren Michael Schneidermann II, Willow Drummond, Braylin Koopman, Bryson Koopman, Simmeon Hall Jr, Rylen Hall; and a host of nieces and nephews including special nephews Ray Jackson Jr, Rodney Jackson, Perry Jackson, and Michael Nunn.
His parents, sisters Zeporia Jackson Hickman, Bobbie Nell Jackson Freeman, Erma Lee Jackson Clark; brothers A.Z., Percy, Ed, Raymond, and Horace Jackson Jr, preceded him in death. May they rest in peace.
