Mark Vandello

Mark E. Vandello, 65, passed away on his late sons’ birthday, Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his residence in Coldwater, Mississippi.  Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 1p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport.

Mark was born on August 12, 1953 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Robert E. and Vanetta J. Vandello.  He served our country in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mark loved to play board games and dominos; he was often competitive and sometimes a poor loser :)  Mark was an avid reader and movie buff who enjoyed spending his last days with loved ones. Mark was thankful to have had the opportunity to mend broken relationships before he passed. He celebrated his recent birthday with his daughter, Felicitas and her mother Leda, who expressed heartfelt forgiveness and prayerful, eternal best wishes. The family would also like to express deep gratitude to Chris Vandello for being the caretaker that blessed Mark in his final weeks with loving care and companionship.

Survivors include Leda Vandello, Debby Woods and their children: Jeremy (Amber) Vandello, Ozark, Missouri, Felicitas Vandello (Jose Susunaga) and Eugene Vandello, Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren; Victor, Roxanna, Vanessa, and Leonel Susunaga, and Lestat Palmer, Jasmine, and Lilyann Vandello; siblings: Teresa Neumann, Lebanon, Oregon; Laura Vandello, Boulder, Colorado; Christopher Vandello, Iowa City, Iowa; Tracy McBee, Davenport, Iowa; Valerie Holland, Rockville, VA; and Rosemary Vandello, Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jamison Vandello, his parents, an infant brother, John Earl, and his sister Susan (Vandello) Orcutt.
