Mark E. McGuire, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, died Saturday, December 3, 2022 at his home, following a brief illness.
A rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. with a memorial gathering from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. An Irish wake will follow that evening at the Columbus Club in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the family.
Mark was born May 21, 1951 in Davenport the son of John F. and Betty Mae (Mraz) McGuire. Mark married Linda Conklin. From this union came their daughter, Kelly. Mark later married Kris Capper, May 13, 2006.
Mark worked as a quality control manager with Oscar Mayer for 32 years, with contract work for five additional years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Riverdale Fire Department, enjoyed politics, and working out on the treadmill. Mark was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was financially savvy, a dedicated and hard worker, and led a life of integrity.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kris; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Larson and Sean Williams of Bettendorf; step-daughter, Haviland (Steve) Brick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Trevor, Miranda, Tierney, Mariana, Emma, and Ian; siblings, Joseph McGuire and Mary Kay Voges of Davenport, and Laurie Jo (Scott) Edmondson of Rock Island; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Nancy Capper; and nieces and nephews, Ryan, Eric, Alissa, Katie, and Luke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Johnnie, and Daniel.
