Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Marianne L. Bell-Overholt, 66, of Davenport, will be held at 10am on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-6pm on Thursday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport., and will begin with a Rosary at 4pm and a prayer service at 4:15pm. Additional visitation will be held prior to the Mass Friday beginning at 9:00am. Memorials may be made to the church or Assumption High School.
Mrs. Bell-Overholt passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Genesis East, Davenport, surrounded by her family.
Marianne Lucille Bell was born March 17, 1957, in Davenport, a daughter of Charles Edward and Mary “Joanne” (Miclot) Bell. She was united in marriage to Robert Malcolm Overholt on February 27, 1998, and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2011.
Marianne earned her bachelor’s degree from the former Marycrest College, Davenport. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a logistics management specialist for the Rock Island Arsenal since 1977. She kept busy in her retirement volunteering for the Diocese of Davenport. Marianne also was blessed with a remarkable gift of memory.
She will be deeply missed by her brothers Richard (Beth) Bell of Eugene, OR, Edward (Penny) Bell of West Des Moines, IA; sisters Kathy Gurvey of Glenview, IL, Geralyn (Tim) Frazer and Theresa (Joe) DeVine, all of Davenport. She was the beloved aunt of Ryland and Chris (Kailee) Bell, Jenna and Kara Gurvey, Stephen Bell, Helene and Kate DeVine and Dan, Maria, and Rose Frazer. She is also survived by her aunt Sue (Miclot) Epping and numerous cousins.
In addition to her husband Robert, her parents and sister-in-law Ramona Bell preceded her in death.
