Marian W. Haut, 94, died peacefully Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Kahl Home, Davenport.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Marian will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 N. Main Street, Davenport. The Mass will be livestreamed by clicking the following link: St. Anthony Catholic Church - Livestream Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue or to St. Anthony Catholic Church for Masses to be offered for the faithful departed of the Haut family.
Marian Walburga Schmidt was born on November 29, 1928 in Davenport, a daughter of Martin T. and Margaret (Geiling) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to Fred Haut, Jr. on June 7, 1947 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2002 following 55 years of marriage and eleven children.
Marian worked numerous jobs while balancing her primary duty of being a mother to her large family.
She was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, attending Mass daily at the Kahl Home and was constantly praying for her family. She loved to play bingo, craft, color, crochet and read as well spoil her dog, Gabe, with multiple daily walks and treats.
Those left to honor her memory are her children and their spouses: Sandra (Harry) Koehler, Meridian, Idaho, Jack (Deb) Haut, Davenport, Dennis Haut, Davenport, Jim (Sue) Haut, Bettendorf, Karen (Rich) Harris, Bettendorf, Michael (Gloria) Haut, Davenport, Anthony (Linda) Haut, Davenport, Gary (Mary) Haut, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Fred Haut III, Davenport, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Marjorie “Meg” McCabe, Coal Valley, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Ronald and Shelley Haut, a grandson, Brandon Haut, and daughters-in-law, Diana and Debra Haut, her parents, her brother, Eugene Schmidt and a sister, Betty Devlin. May they rest in peace.
The Haut family would like to thank the Carmelite Sisters as well as aides, nurses, and staff of the Kahl Home for caring for Marian for the last nine years.
