Maria G. Herrera

Funeral services celebrating the life of Maria G. Herrera, 80, of Davenport, will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will follow in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation will be from 9am until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mrs. Herrera passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Maria Guadalupe Aguilar was born August 7, 1943, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, a daughter of Francisco and Florencia (Garcia) Aguilar. She was united in marriage to Francisco Gonzales Herrera on April 25, 1964, in Laredo, TX.

Maria liked to cook and was known for her flour tortillas. She also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino. She lived a great life and loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her passing leaves a huge void, and she will be truly missed.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 60 years, Francisco; children Araceli (Oscar) Flores of Laredo, Graciela (Carlos) Ojeda of Laredo, Francisco (Angela) Herrera Jr of Clinton, IA, Arnoldo (Bridget Ewing) Herrera of Davenport, Maria (Ignacio) DeMar of Laredo, Ana (Justin Blackwood) Herrera, Alejandro (Kathleen Hassman) Herrera, Alonzo Herrera, Eduardo (Stacy Miller) Herrera, Griselda (Ricardo Torres) Herrera, all of Davenport; 43 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; sister Dora Perez of Rock Island; and brother Jorge Aguilar of Laredo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Francisco and Jose Aguilar, sister Rosa Almanza, granddaughter Laura Mendoza, and grandson Angel Herrera. May they rest in peace.
