Margaret M. Stoneking, 87, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Genesis East, Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 10a.m. until the Mass in the gathering space at church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle or Humility of Mary Housing.
Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret Mary Bernick was born on July 12, 1931 in Davenport, a daughter of Emanuel and Theresa (Richlen) Bernick. She was united in marriage to Eldon E. Stoneking on August 15, 1953 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Buffalo. Mr. Stoneking preceded Margaret in passing on January 29, 1999 after almost 45 years of marriage.
Margaret retired from Oscar Mayer in the production department in 1984 after 34 years of service.
Margaret devoted her life to her grandchildren. She was devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle where she also was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Margaret also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Becky Stoneking, Davenport; grandchildren: Nichole (Andy) Schroer, Story City, Iowa, Eric (Allison Clark) Clapp, and Zack (Elizabeth) MacKenzie; great-granddaughters: Leila Walton and Madalyn MacKenzie; a son-in-law, James Clapp, Davenport, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Clapp (September 25, 1999), her parents, and her sister-in-law, Lois Porter. May they rest in peace.
