Margaret Ybarra-Ruiz

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Ybarra-Ruiz, 87, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Visitation will start with a prayer service at 4 pm and continue until 6 pm at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  There will be additional visitation on Wednesday at the church from 10 am until time of services.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Ms. Ruiz passed on Friday, May 17, 2024, at her home.

Maragret was born March 19, 1937, in Bettendorf, a daughter of Ralph and Jesse (Avila) Ybarra.   She was united in marriage to Ronald DeArmond and later to David Ruiz.

Prior to her retirement she had worked for Servus Rubber.

Margaret loved to have fun and was the life of the party, she also liked mariachi music, Bingo, playing cards, traveling, and making her legendary enchiladas.  She was a long-suffering fan of the Cubs and Bears.

Survivors include her children Tammy Buck of Davenport, David Ruiz Jr, Melissa Ruiz of Houston, Josephine Ruiz of Houston, Ron (Tammy) DeArmond of Davenport, Jeff DeArmond of Moline; 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings Josephine Ybarra of Chicago, Joseph Ybarra of Davenport, Jess LaMantia of Villa Hills, KY, and Mark (Martha) Ybarra of Oviedo, FL.

She was preceded in death by daughter Denise Ybarra, parents, siblings Lupe, Frankie, Tony, Velen, Elvita, Alexander Ybarra, and Juanita Olvera.
