Margaret Ann Norby

April 28, 1941 — April 20, 2025

Margaret “Maggie” (Henderson) Norby was born on April 28, 1941, in Primghar, Iowa. She was the daughter of M.V. Henderson, Jr. (Toby) and Gretchen (Rerick) Henderson. Maggie passed away on April 20, 2025, at her home in Davenport, Iowa with her family by her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the chapel at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, Iowa.

In 1959, Maggie graduated from North High School in West Union, Iowa. She attended Grinnell College before graduating from the University of Iowa in 1964 and later attended Loras College. Maggie was employed as a speech pathologist and audiologist for the Bettendorf public schools. While living in Dubuque, Maggie worked for Inn Books, Project Concern, and Opening Doors.

Maggie is survived by her children Ben (Katrina) Norby of Denver, CO, Sarah (Mark) Hichborn of Bettendorf, and grandchildren Hannah and Noah Hichborn and Kendal Norby, her greatest loves. She is also survived by her brother John Henderson, nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.

Maggie will be remembered for her genuine interest in others, love for reading, and animals. However, above all, her greatest love was for her family. Maggie’s family would like to thank Hospice Compassus for the loving care they provided her in the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, Maggie’s wish was for donations to be made to Opening Doors for women and children experiencing homelessness.
