Marelu Anderson

Davenport- Marelu H. Anderson, 83, a resident of Davenport, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at her home after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Marelu will be 11:30 am Friday, February 16, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1923 N. Fillmore Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday from 4 until 7 pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. to begin the visitation. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.

Marelu Hallauer was born April 18, 1934 in Davenport, a daughter of George Jacob and Clara Mary (Goos) Hallauer. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1952. Marelu was united in marriage to Donald E. Anderson May 1, 1954 at Holy Family Catholic Church.

She owned and operated Anderson Accounting & Tax Preparation in Rock Island retiring in 1994. She had been secretary of the Illinois Accounting Association.

Marelu was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was very active; she was past treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also active at the Friendly House, and Mississippi Valley Blood Bank volunteer.

Marelu cherished the time spent with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, and time at the lake.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Don, Davenport, children: Wallace (Teresa) Anderson, Davenport, Lawrence “Lars” (Jeff Greenberg) Anderson, Los Angeles, Thomas (Marianne), Davenport, Connie (Michael) Heskett, Springfield, Illinois, and John (Leanne) Anderson, Davenport; as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
