Malena R. “Beans” Torres, 17, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Her family will greet friends at the funeral home prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The rite of cremation will take place following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family.

Malena Ranae Torres was born on September 1, 2000 in Davenport, a daughter of Jenny Jones and Antonio Torres. Beans was a very special young woman who was loved by all those who came across her path. Her smile is one you will never forget; even through her toughest battles she would always sneak a smile to you and let you know everything will be o.k. She was strong, she was joyful and she is deeply loved.

Beans is survived by her parents, Jenny Jones (Salvadar Zavala) and Antonio (Jessica) Torres all of Davenport; her siblings; Kennedie, Landus, Mekhi, Lux, Antonio III, Kerstin and Kinnick all of Davenport, and a special niece, Evelynn; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and grandparents.

Malena’s family extends a special thank you to Connie Lingafeller, for all her hard work, love and dedication to Malena. The family also would like to thank Beans’ nursing staff and Doctors at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital at University of Iowa Hospitals.
