Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Magdalen B. Monnig, 95, of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. The family will greet family and friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle or The Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Mrs. Monnig passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Magdalen Beckmann was born on April 13, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of Joseph and Emma (Wichmann) Beckmann. She was united in marriage to Walter J. Monnig, Jr. on June 30, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1988 after 43 years of marriage.
Magdalen was a woman of great faith and devoted to her parish. She belonged to many of the Ladies Circles and sang in the funeral choir. She loved to play piano and bridge with her many friends. Magdalen also cherished the time she was near the ocean and found great joy and peace in it.
Magdalen is survived by her son, James Monnig, Bettendorf; granddaughter, Stephanie (David) Buckley, Moline; great-granddaughters, Rebecca (William) Buckley – Butler, Missouri, and Anndrea Buckley, Moline, a sister: Mary Rose Ryan, Tampa, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Magdalen was preceded in death by a daughter, Therese Monnig, a daughter-in-law, Katherine Monnig, her parents, and a sister and seven brothers. May they rest in peace.Visits: 7
