Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Madlyn L. Swope, 87, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday February 13, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is Tuesday at church prior to mass from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Swope died Thursday February 8, 2018, at Bettendorf Health Care Center. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted her family with arrangements.
Madlyn L. Doggett was born on September 9, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ernest and Hazel (McDonough) Doggett. She married Clarence E. Swope Oct. 5, 1950 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death, June 27, 2001. Madlyn had worked at Eagle Signal and served as Shop Chairwoman of the union until her retirement in 1987. She loved to travel; especially her 17 trips to Las Vegas with her husband in the R.V.

Survivors include her two children; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael (Vicki) Swope, Davenport; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce (Daniel) Hueser, Marquette Heights, IL; grandchildren, Scott (Vanesa) Swope, Davenport, Craig (Diane) Swope, Pekin, IL, Jennifer (Matthew) Johnson, Pekin, Ill, and Cindi Hueser, Canton, IL; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Sonya and Kennedy; and a great-great grandchild, Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson Todd Hueser, two sisters, Roberta and Vernes and a brother, Obie.Visits: 7
