Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Lorraine A. Ryder, 92, a resident of Davenport, will be Monday, February 19, 2018 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 516 Fillmore Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Lorraine’s family will greet friends at church on Monday from 9am until the time of the service. Lorraine passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Lorraine Anna Stechmann was born September 3, 1925 in Davenport, a daughter of Herman and Laura (Klehn) Stechmann. She married Chester J. Ryder July 14, 1945 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death June 14, 1999. They were 1 month short of their 54th wedding anniversary.
Lorraine worked as a sales clerk for both Kile’s Gifts and Treasure Land Gifts, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, Genesis West Auxiliary, and was a “Pink Lady”. Sewing was a favorite hobby of Lorraine’s, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Carmelite Sisters of Eldridge or Sioux City.
Those left to honor Lorraine’s memory include her children; David (Barbara) Ryder, Davenport, Jane (Michael) Holeman, Austin, Texas, Thomas (Candace) Ryder, Davenport, Joan (Pat) Quinn, Rochester, Minnesota, Julie Shaffer, Austin, Texas, and Jeffery (Pat) Ryder, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Nancy McDonald, Bettendorf and Wayne (Pat) Stechmann, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Chester, grandson, Joseph Clarke and sister, Delores Murray. May they rest in peace.
