Loren F. Burken

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Loren F. Burken, 88, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:00 am Friday, September 16, 2022 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport.  Burial will be at Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the Mass. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Loren F. Burken was born October 2, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Rita Burken. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Jenkins, June 23, 1956, in St. Henry’s Catholic Church, LeClaire, Iowa. Loren graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Clinton.  Loren served four years in the United States Navy.  He worked for the United States Postal Service in Davenport, retiring in 1989. Loren was a member of NARFE and the American Legion Post 26.  

Loren was devoted to his wife and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed traveling on cruises and visiting Ireland and several countries in Europe.  Loren loved the Cubs and was a devoted diehard fan.  He enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and playing cards.  

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Foundation, Ridgecrest Village Foundation, or an organization of your choice.  Loren’s family is grateful for the kindness and caring of the staff and the Ridgecrest Heath Center.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Rosemary; sons, Steven (Carol) and Todd (Diana) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patrick (Debbie) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Donald of Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren, Jenna, Jay, Kim, Laura, Carrie, Ellen, Jonathan, Payton, Mason, and Caleb; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Joshua, Hazel, Charlotte; siblings, Dick (Mary Ann), Jim (Judy), and Jan; and several nieces and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents.
