Funeral services to celebrate the life of Lora L. Dykstra Kelso, 86, of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at church. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Lora died peacefully Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Davenport.
Lora Lea Gibson was born on July 24, 1935 in Anadarko, Oklahoma a daughter of William Wesley “Jack” and Ruby (Ferguson) Gibson. She was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” Dykstra. He preceded her in death in 1993. She later married LeRoy E. Kelso on April 26, 1997. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2021
Lora worked as a secretary for her husband Jerry’s business in Kansas City, Kansas. She hosted many outings and dinners for the business and was a wonderful and gracious host.
Lora had a sweet and silly personality. She was fond of her time as a Girl Scout Leader in Oklahoma and enjoyed traveling and tending to her flowers.
Survivors include her stepchildren: Mary O’Toole, Theresa (Dr. Mark) Bergthold, Ann (Jeff) McCrery and Kristopher Kelso, Laura (Dr. Doug) Ripley, David (Kerry) Kelso, David (Yvonne) Dykstra, Jerry Dykstra, a daughter-in-law, Pat Dykstra, many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold (Marge) Kelso nieces: Wendi (Jeff) Gearing, Misty Austin,; nephews: Rick Austin, and John Servillo.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Connie; her parents, and siblings: Wesley Gibson and Darlene Austin.
