Linda Colfer

   Linda L. Colfer, age 73, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with visitation from 3:00pm until the time of services. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

   Linda was born on July 3, 1950, in Wyoming, IA, to John and Hattie Lawson. After graduating from Wyoming High School, she completed beauty school. She married James Davis in 1969, with two children, Christa and Chad, being born into this union. The couple later divorced. While working at the Rock Island Arsenal, she met and later married John Colfer in 1995 in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 2002. After leaving the arsenal, Linda enjoyed being a para-professional in the North Scott School System. Linda enjoyed crafting, watching sports, and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she was very proud of.

   Survivors include her children, Christa (Ryan) Benz, and Chad (Ada) Davis; grandchildren, Elaina Benz, Jack Benz, and Isabel Davis; siblings, Danny (Carla) Lawson, and John Lawson; a sister-in-law, Helen Lawson; several nieces and nephews; as well as close family friends, Lacy, Tony, LT, and Ryan Christner.

   In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Zismer, and brother, Bill Lawson.
