Funeral services celebrating the life of Lewis Marshall Jr, 94, of Silvis, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Gospel Mission Temple, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport, with military honors. Visitation will be 10-11 am on Saturday at the church.
Mr. Lewis passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Arrangements entrusted to Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Lewis was born October 13, 1930, in Clarksville, OK, a son of Lewis and Valerie (Graham) Marshall, Sr. He was united in marriage to Barbara Brown on December 25, 1954, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1991. He was united in marriage to Shirley Smith on August 30, 1997, in Moline.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was proud to have gone on an Honor Flight to Washington DC.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, he had worked for ALCOA for over 31 years as a truck repair mechanic. He then worked part time as a custodian for Bettendorf Middle School.
He enjoyed watching westerns, word puzzles, travelling, and especially spending time with his church community and large family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Shirley; children Lewis E. (Verna) Marshall, Davenport, Marvin (Sheila) Marshall Sr, Davenport, Eugene (Tessie) Marshall, Temecula, CA, Wanda (Tony) Edmonds, Memphis, TN, Ella Mae Marshall, Tulsa, OK, Anthony (Diane) Marshall, Davenport, Barbara Marshall, Phoenix; stepchildren Veronica Johnson, Decatur, IL, Darryl Hodge, Ogden, UT, Parthia (DeWayne) Hill, Minneapolis, Jonathan Hodge, Kewanee, Vincent (Heidi) Hodge, Sioux City, IA, Tamara Hodge, Rock Island, Mary (Tyrone) Jones, Moline, Stephen Hodge, Atlanta; 23 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and brothers Maurice, Alvin, Ronnie, and Meredith Marshall.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by grandson Marvin “MJ” Marshall Jr, stepson Derek Hodge, brother Archie, and sister Yvette Maxwell.
