Leo Edward Ruth, age 89, of Davenport, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Riverside. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Leo was born on October 6, 1934, in Riverside to Herman and Bertha (Bulgar) Ruth. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Schnoebelen on December 27, 1952, in Hills, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2005. He later married Shirley Prochaska in 2008, and she preceded him in 2022.
Leo was a mechanic for over 43 years with Alcoa, retiring in 1993. He was very active and served as President for many years with the Local #105. In early years Leo enjoyed coaching his sons and daughters in both baseball and softball. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting pheasants, and playing cards.
Survivors include his children, Betty (Richard) Cale of Davenport, Debra (Steve Dohse) Jones of Davenport, Chuck (Cindy) Ruth of Ely, Annette (Michael) Tomlinson of Eldridge, Michele (Dennis) Manion of Bettendorf, and Clint (Jennifer) Ruth of Eldridge; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Janie Marek of Kalona, Mary Marek of Hills, and Gene (Dorris) Ruth of Hills.
In addition to his parents and wives, Leo was preceded in death by siblings, Richard, Bob, Don, Catherine, Paul, Eleanor, and Rita.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mariah and Belle at Country Manor, and to the staff at St. Croix Hospice and Clarissa C. Cook for the care they provided Leo.
