Lawrence "Larry" Hartman

Lawrence “Larry” Hartman, 82, of Davenport, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00pm, Monday, January 2, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with additional visitation from 9:00am until the time of mass. Burial will follow in National Cemetery. 

Larry was born on June 29, 1940 in Davenport, son of Anthony and Rosemary (Deardoff) Hartman.  He was united in marriage to Ruth Jean Simmons on December 12, 1959.

Larry graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in 1958 and then enlisted with the United States Navy, where he served until 1963. He was a life member of the Naval Enlisted Association, VFW, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association and the Milan Rifle Club.  He was on the Davenport Fire Department from 1964 to 1998, where he was the District Chief for 19 years, and in the US Naval Reserve from 1980 to 2000.  He was a Scott County Reserve Officer from 1994 to 2005, Davenport Police Department V.I.P.s from December 2005 to present, Scott County V.I.P.s for 12 years, and an EMA volunteer for over 40 years. He loved to travel with his wife and together they visited 49 states.  The family wishes to thank all shipmates, neighbors, friends and family for their support.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jean; children, Paul (Lizanne) Hartman and Lara (Steven) Blaser; grandchildren Kathryn, Andrea, and Lawrence Blaser; and brother Raymond Hartman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Davenport Fire Department Honor Guard, Davenport Police Department Honor Guard, Scott County Sheriff Honor Guard, or the Top Gun Navy Chiefs.
