Larry Francis Nagle was born on February 12, 1936, a son of James and Roma (Meier) Nagle. He proudly served our country in the Army and was able to participate in an Honor Flight in 2013 and was past commander of the Donahue American Legion Post 532.
Larry was united in marriage to Lois J. Knutsen on August 16, 1958 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. They have shared over 66 years of marriage together.
Larry was a heavy equipment operator as a part of Local 537 Operating Engineers. He retired in 1991 and was a 65-year member of the Union. He would have continued working had his health not declined.
Larry was fond of his Long Grove Community; he was a former member of the town council and the Long Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed driving around town, most times on his lawn mower! Larry made daily excursions to his property on the Wapsi River. He also enjoyed hunting, regular trips to Wisconsin to fish, and travelling the U.S. and Mexico with Lois and camping. Larry was always tinkering and finding ways to get himself in trouble, and he could and would talk to anyone who would converse with him.
Those left to honor Larry’s memory are his wife, Lois, Long Grove; children: Jeff (Annie Cox) Nagle, Ron (Jennifer) Nagle, Tom (Jennifer) Nagle, all of Long Grove, Kevin (Stephani) Nagle, Davenport, Jill (Mike) Buss, St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, Greg (Sara) Nagle, Long Grove; grandchildren: Caitlin (Will) Maass, Courtney (Kent) Reimers, Zach (Nicole) Nagle, Jacob Nagle, Kora Nagle, Kami Nagle, Peyton Nagle, Becky (Jared Delfosse) Buss, and Chelsea (Christian) LaCarte; great-grandchildren: Adalyn, Griffin, Larissa, and Bennett; and a sister, Carol Nagle, Eldridge; and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Nagle, granddaughter, Brittany Buss, parents, and siblings, Mary Dobling, Lorraine Burke, James “Bud”, Harold, Wayne, Richard “Sonny”, and Dan Nagle. May they rest in peace.
The Nagle family would like to thank all the nurses and staff of Unity Point Hospice for the compassionate care they shared with Larry.
