Kris was born on March 27, 1952 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to George and Helen (Kristak) Tesar. She was the fourth child of six and first daughter of a hard-working Catholic family in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Kris attended Mt. Assisi Academy in Lamont, Illinois and Southern Illinois University where she earned high academic honors. Kris and Jerry married on October 19, 1974 in Oak Lawn Illinois. It was a heck of a party. She was a stay-at-home mom for the first 25 years, during which she tenderly cared for our terminally ill son, Nicholas Joseph Leddin. After Nick's passing, Kris was a water aquatics instructor at downtown Scott County YMCA, tennis coach at Assumption High School in Davenport and retired after 20 years as an RN in metro Denver, Colorado. Per Jerry and totally agreed upon by family and friends, "I married well!"
Kris was preceded in death by our beloved son Nicholas Joseph Leddin, father George Tesar, mother Helen Kristak Tesar, brothers Terry (Linda) Tesar, Brian (Roxanne) Tesar and Ken (Sandy St John) Tesar. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Jerry, and son Matthew (Maria Helfenberger Leddin), daughters Natalie Kim (Kyle Connolly) and Leah (Andy Post), grandchildren Grace and James Connolly and Noah and Wyatt Post, and brother Tim Tesar and sister Karen Tesar Burke, nieces, nephews and friends.
Kris was the heart of our family. She was a memorable friend, shopaholic for everyone but herself, connected relative, doting aunt, supportive sister, active and loving grandma, a great example of who a mom should be to our daughters and sons, and a lifelong friend, partner and forever love for Jerry. Kris believed in God and through our grief she would want us to again let in the light.
