Kim J. Fugate

Memorial services celebrating the life of Kim Fugate, 70, of Davenport, will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The family will receive friends from noon until time of services. Memorials may be made to the family.

Ms. Fugate passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis, Davenport.

Kim Jaye Fugate was born January 25, 1955, in Davenport, a daughter of Lloyd Albert and Violet Arline (McGovern) Fugate. Kim was born with a “hole” in her heart and was the first child in Iowa to undergo the surgery to repair it. Following the surgery she was crowned Little Miss Heart of Scott County.

Prior to her retirement, Kim had been a bookkeeper for several local businesses over the years, including Anheuser Busch and Family Care Solutions.

Kim loved doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and card games, a cold Busch Light, and spending time with her daughter Mandy and grandchildren. If the Iowa Hawkeyes were on TV that was a bonus!

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter Mandy (Scott) Courter of Davenport; grandchildren Alex (Jaleesa) Lamp of Clinton, Audree (Skylar) Moore of Walcott, Noah Hensley of Iowa City; great grandchildren Boadhi, Cassidy, Adeleigh, Bexley; sisters Marlene Guy, Cheryl Anderson, Cindy Fugate, all of Davenport; sister-in-law Pat Fugate of Davenport; brother-in-law Mark Alcala of New Mexico; BFF Mickie Burton; and many loving extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion Don Grondo, parents, brothers Larry and Terry, sister Pam Alcala, and brothers-in-law Larry Guy and Russ Anderson.
