Kevin Kavanaugh

Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Kevin P. Kavanaugh, 57, a resident of Davenport and formerly of Donahue and rural Scott County will be 10:00 am Monday, January 8, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 1:00 until 4:00 pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be a prayer service Sunday at 4:00 pm that all are encouraged to attend. There will be additional visitation Monday in the gathering space in the church from 9:00 am until service time. The Rev. Jacob Greiner will be the celebrant.

Kevin died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. He was surrounded by his family and passed away following a courageous battle with a cancer diagnosis in April 2017.

Kevin Patrick Kavanaugh was born September 24, 1960, in Davenport, a son of, Gerald L. and Jean M. (Welzenbach) Kavanaugh. He graduated from West High School in 1979, and then completed a four-year Electrical Apprenticeship.

He then began a 34-year career as a Journeyman Wireman. He was a proud member of the IBEW Local #145 since 1980, and has been employed as a Safety Representative and Journeyman Wireman for Tri-City Electric Company. Kevin was a hard worker and conscientious employee; he was well respected in the trades by his co-workers and employers.

He was a talented and gifted artist, and enjoyed drawing and sketching. He had a love for cars and enjoyed working on car projects; he even built a race car for himself in younger years.

His greatest accomplishment in life where his children; they meant everything to him. He was a diehard Cardinal fan and especially cherished time spent with his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Kevin Kavanaugh Benefit Fund.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Connor, Brendan, Liam, and Caitlin; parents, Gerald and Jean Kavanaugh; and siblings, Erin (Marvin) Smith, Kathleen (Pat) Kilfoy, Shawn Kavanaugh, and Colleen (Kevin) Kahley; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
