Funeral services celebrating the life of Kenneth Richard Holgate, 56, of Davenport, will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The rite of cremation will follow. Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held after services. Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue.
Mr. Holgate passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Genesis East, Davenport.
Kenny was born December 20, 1965, in Rock Island, the firstborn of Jonas “Joe” and Joan (Hansen) Holgate. He attended Jordan Catholic School and graduated from Rock Island High School class of 1984. He was united in marriage to Shelley (McCommons) Parker on September 6, 2020 in Davenport.
Following his passion for working with his hands and solving mechanical problems, Ken attended Hamilton Technical College and then joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 145. He worked for the union for 30 years, 27 at Tri City Electrical. He had recently retired. He left behind a legacy of well-known projects across the Quad Cities, including major renovations at ALCOA of Bettendorf, the construction of Jumers Casino in Rock Island, Rhythm City Casino in Davenport, and the Sterilite Factory in Davenport.
He loved riding his trike year-round, socializing with his friends, and fishing.
Ken is survived by many loving family and friends, including his wife Shelley; stepdaughter Elaina; mother Joan Holgate; daughter Cassandra (Bradley) Griffiths; grandchildren James, Raylan, and Rex; son Thaddeus Holgate; siblings Tom (Nancy) Holgate, Trish (Patrick) Norris, Mindy Leenerts, Betsy Holgate; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended relatives, and family friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and beloved pets that he had throughout his life.
