Kenneth E. Hillebrand, 81, of Davenport passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Ken will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Halligan-McCabe-Devries Funeral Home downtown, Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Ken was born, November 5, 1936 in Davenport to Anthony and Eleanor (Schluenz) Hillebrand. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1955 and joined the United States Air Force. He married Shirley Rosenboom on September 21, 1955, in Davenport. Ken had worked 33 years at John Deere Harvester, East Moline.
He lived his life as an avid fan and participant in numerous sports. He coached basketball, baseball, and flag football, and could often be found on the golf course or the softball diamond. He was inducted into the Quad City Hall of Fame, as well as the Venture Out Hall of Fame (Mesa, AZ) for softball. He was also a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and a member of Y’s Men’s International Service Club of YMCA.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 63 years, Shirley, and their children; Mark (Beth) Hillebrand, Maquoketa, Jeff (Cyndi) Hillebrand, Davenport, Brian (Julie) Hillebrand, Urbandale, Jim (Kim) Hillebrand of Davenport, Donald (Linda) Hillebrand of Waukee, and Linda (Scott) Wendt, Nevada, and honorary daughter Inge-Marie (Jimmy) Sørenson, Aars, Denmark; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.; brothers, Richard (Sylvia) Hillebrand and Jerry (Judy) Hillebrand.
