Kenneth Wayne Bales

Kenneth Wayne Bales, 66, of Walcott, passed away, Thursday, March 28, 2024.  

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to his wife. Burial will be in Walcott Cemetery.  

 Ken was born on October 24, 1957 in Davenport, Iowa.  He worked as a mechanic for over 50 years and the last 18 ½ with his last employer.   Ken was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.  He married Veronica Daily on May 11, 1991 at St. Marks Lutheran Church.  They lived and raised their daughter in the town he grew up in and loved Walcott.  Ken was most proud of being a dad.  

 Ken was an Ambassador in the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce.  He was a past President of the Walcott Jaycees.  Ken was also a former member of the Walcott Lions Club.  He loved supporting the Walcott Community often volunteering to work the concession stands during baseball games.  He was always supporting the Walcott Fire Department.  Ken fought a hard battle against Pancreatic Cancer.  

 Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 32 years Veronica, daughter Jacqueline (Alexander) Hiltl; sister Denise (Terry) Heady; and brother Russell Bales.

 He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Gail Bales.
