Keith, a proud veteran entered the Kingdom of Heaven peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Keith was born August 4, 1949, in Hillsboro, North Dakota, one of seven sons born to Ralph and Harriet (Sunderland) Byars. He was united in marriage to Karen Lewis in 1972 in Davenport, Iowa. Keith proudly served our country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked for Harrington Roofing and Economy Roofing before starting his own roofing company in the early 90’s.
Keith was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Church, and a devout follower of Jesus Christ. He spent his time volunteering at the food pantry. He enjoyed watching wrestling with his grandchildren, cheering on the Vikings, and he was the proud president of Davenport North Little League for 10 years. Spending time with his family were the most precious moments in his life. Keith always announced every single family members name on holidays, not leaving one out, and always made his favorite chocolate pies every year. He was a family man who was the rock of the family and would be there for anyone before you could hang up the phone. He let his family know during his passing “Please don’t cry, be happy. I am going to a better place.”
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Karen; children: Trish (Joshua) Jones, Keith Byars, Jr., and Bryan Byars; grandchildren; Michael Cross-Byars, Katie (Javon) Green, Maria (Nehemiah) Ratliff, Brandon Jasso, Nickolas Byars, Elisabeth Byars, Meghan Byars, Shannon Ayers; great-grandchildren: Alaysia Green, Ava Green, Jalen Green, Gabriella Ratliff, Camden Ruddy, Sophia Cross, Nolan Cross, Madison Cross, Hannah Cross, Nathan Akright, Jr., Lilyanna Akright, and Wyatt Douglas; brothers, Brad Byars and Darla Strombeck, and Larry (Barb) Byars.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Rodney, LeAlan, Ronnie, and Chuck.
