Mrs. Volz passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Kahl Home, Davenport.
Kay was born March 5, 1944, in Salem, OR, the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (nee Passno) Hofmann. While traveling to Europe as a college student aboard a ship, she met Marlin “Hap” Volz, and they were united in marriage on August 12, 1967, at Our Lady of Lourdes, Bettendorf. They have one daughter, Ann.
She lived a full life and had several interests that included spending quality time with family and friends, playing bridge, vacationing throughout the USA, cooking with the gourmet group, attending Assumption events, dining out, and taking care of the family pets that included miniature poodles, beagles, and a rottweiler. She was often described as genuine, fun, and strong - truly a caring person to so many.
Kay taught business subjects at Assumption High School for 35 years before retiring in 2005. While there, she initiated a co-op program and frequently led her students on tours of local businesses to familiarize them with the business environment. She was a past president of the local chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Kay earned her undergraduate and Masters in Business Administration degrees from the University of Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Hap; daughter Ann Volz, Chicago/Irvine; sister-in-law Karen (George) Campbell, Vienna, WV; many cousins, especially in Kalamazoo, MI; and her miniature poodle “Bear”.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
