Kathleen E. Petersen

Kathleen “Kathy” Petersen, 73, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at The Vistas, Bettendorf. The rite of cremation has been accorded, and a celebration of her life will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be from 3:30 pm until time of services at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Kathleen Ellen Mullin was born September 11, 1951, in Davenport, a daughter of Thomas and Marion (Stamer) Mullin. She was united in marriage to Wayne Petersen on May 23, 1975.

She started working for the Quad City Times while still a high school student at Assumption and worked in the creative services department at the time of her retirement in 2008.

Kathy loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. In her younger days, she rode her horses as often as she could and stabled them at Twin Cedars Stables in Princeton, IA. She adored all the family dogs and she and Wayne would often take them for rides together around town. Above all else, Kathy loved her family. A devoted wife and mother. She gave them all the love in her heart for as long as she was able.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Wayne; son Jeff (Jackie) Petersen of Davenport; daughter Lisa (Kory) Heston of DeWitt; grandchildren Brody, Brynlee, Gage; sister Roseanne (Charles) Lewis of Davenport; brothers Paul (Pam) Mullin of Davenport, Neil (Anna) Mullin of Gadsden, AL, Thomas (Hannah) Mullin of Sterling, VA; sister-in-law Lois Petersen of Davenport; and brother-in-law Butch Pennock of Bettendorf.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother- and father-in-law Harold and Irene Petersen, sister-in-law Darlene Pennock, and niece Courtney Ryan.
