Kathleen was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 27th, 1962, the daughter of Rita Evelyn McAllister Callahan and Francis “Bonnie” Callahan.
She was raised in Davenport, Iowa, graduating from Sacred Heart Cathedral Grade School, Assumption High School and Saint Ambrose University with a bachelor’s degree in Art. She worked as a Field Auditor for the State of Iowa Work Force Development for 15 years, retiring due to health issues in 2023. Prior to that she worked for Aramark/Ogden for 15 years as an Office Manager. She started her professional career at Quad City Bank and Trust.
Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings Brian Callahan, & Mary (Matt) Thompson, all of Davenport. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Kiki” to her three nephews Robert, Sean, & Hugh Thompson, who always put a smile on her face. She is also survived by her many Mack cousins and their spouses.
Kathleen took on the loving responsibility of primary care giver for her mother Rita in her home for several years prior to Rita’s passing in 2020. She was a lifelong Sacred Heart parishioner, very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed multiple trips to Ireland with her family. She was a Board Member for the St. Patrick Society for many years. She also was a longtime volunteer leader of the youth group Spirit Inc. Kathleen had a good head for details and was quick with numbers. She was also very artistic and creative.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kathleen had a series of medical issues over the past several years and we wish to thank all Kathleen’s care providers. In particular, those who cared for her and the family the past two months at Genesis Cardiac Step-Down Unit and the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A special thank you to her closest friend since 2nd grade, Diane (Azzaline) Murtha, who was always a support and created lifelong memories with all their shenanigans.
Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral.
