Karen Ray

Karen Ray, 79, of Davenport passed away, Sunday, June 9, 2024 at her home.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.

 Karen was born on October 22, 1944 in Davenport, daughter of Daniel and Eleanor (Lukavsky) Gravert.  She was united in marriage to William Ray.  They later divorced.  He preceded her in death in 2019.

 Karen helped Joe Whitty start the first Happy Joe’s.  She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She also prayed the rosary daily at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with a special group of friends.  She found joy in sitting in the sun, camping, road trips , and playing bingo. Above all she loved her family and spending time with them.  She also loved her babies Misty and Bray.   

 Those left to honor her memory include her son Bill (Annette Mendoza) Ray; grandpuppies Bear and Jade; twin sister Kathleen Kleppe; brothers Jerry (Lori) Gravert and Rich (Cindy) Gravert; sisters Rita Meeker, Gina (Steve) Allard, Barb Gravert and Joanne (Tom) Marcotte; and good friend Chuck Beadle.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, William Ray, brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Lynn Gravert, sister Denise Gravert, brother-in-laws Keith Kleppe and Bob Meeker.
