Karen N. Dent

Karen Norene Dent, 87, a resident of Davenport, died Monday, December 26, 2022 at Crest Health Center in Davenport.

There will be no services held at this time. She will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery in Grandview, Iowa at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Karen was born April 9, 1935 in Grandview the daughter of Carroll and Cleda (Bennett) McGill. She married George Harris. The couple later divorced but remained good friends. Karen later married Marvin Dent. He preceded her in death in 1992.

Karen worked as a bartender and worked for American Family Insurance, where she retired. She volunteered at Genesis West and enjoyed going to Gunchies, meeting her dinner group. One of her greatest joys was taking care of her great-granddaughters, Dallas White, Emma, and Addison Miller.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Tom (Kim) Harris of Davenport, Tim (Carole) Harris of LeClaire, and Daniel Harris of Davenport; step-daughter, Alice (Steven) Andres; eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Speth of Columbus Junction, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sisters, Bernadine Winter and Sandra Tompkins; and brother, Lonnie McGill.
