Julia Morales

Julia Morales, 92, of Davenport, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at her home.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Davenport. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 ^st at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. A rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Laredo, Texas. Memorials may be made to the family.

Julia was born December 8, 1928 in Gonzales, Texas, the daughter of Samuel and Rosa (Gonzalez) Lira. She married Ricardo Morales. He preceded her in death. Julia was a homemaker and also worked at various jobs throughout her life.

Julia enjoyed watching wrestling on television, listening to music, and being the matriarch of her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Elpidio “Pete” (Magdalena) Lira Gonzalez and Aleyda Morales, both of Davenport, and Bertha (Juan Manuel) Lopez of Iowa City; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pablo (Claudia) Lira of Laredo, Texas, Catalina Lopez of Dallas, Texas, Esther Cantu of Davenport, and Francisca Arriaga of Davenport.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers.
