Joseph Shawn Guizar

Joseph Shawn Guizar, 56, of Davenport, passed away, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, September 20, 2024, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00am – 12:00pm, Friday, September 20, 2024, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug a family member or friend. The funeral will be livestreamed and a link will be posted 20 minutes prior to the start of the service.

Joseph was born on July 23, 1968, in California, the son of Lorenzo and Patricia (Bydwell) Guizar.

If you knew Joe, you know he has always been the life of the party. He was never one to turn down a good time. He was an excellent cook. One of his favorite pastimes was cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, Joe loved his friends and family and cherished his time spent with them. One of Joes last acts of helping was that he was a tissue donor.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Kelsey (Robert) Fitzmaurice; grandchildren Daniel and Joshua; sister Tammy Guizar; half-brother Skip Hammond; niece Ashley Hammond; niece Amber (Tony) Stephens; great nephew Greyson and great niece Emery.

 He was preceded in death by his parents.
